Community of Unity was founded in 2001 as a Life Skills organization to promote youth empowerment. Over 20,000 young people from New York City to Zimbabwe have been touched by our work and the numbers continue to grow!
Community of Unity’s Youth Empowerment Leadership Community (The YELC) is a one-of-a-kind life changing opportunity for NYC Public High School students to participate in a guided journey towards adulthood. Participants in the YELC experience growth and identity development through the power of sharing, teamwork, and earned success, by becoming constructive contributors, active learners and leaders of a safe, non-judgmental after school community, where they can share their beliefs, fears, skills and energy.
Community of Unity knows that when young people build community through the power of their sharing and trust, they awaken the invaluable tools needed to achieve any aspiration in life. Making dreams into reality, through hard work, commitment, and sharing, is what The YELC is all about.
